Abstract
Abstract A tubular prosthesis including a tubular wall portion of loosely interlocked pattern, e.g. of knitted loops, constructed to function within a body lumen. The loops are preferably formed of co-knitted strand materials. A first strand material is a metal strand that structurally defines the tubular shape of the prosthesis and maintains the shape when positioned in the lumen. A second strand material is a predetermined substance selected to provide desired characteristics to the wall of the prosthesis.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
124 words
A prosthesis, comprising: a tubular member constructed to function within a body lumen, said tubular member being defined by multiple strands wherein a first strand is made of a selected metal material and a second strand is made of a different material, said first strand being arranged in a regular pattern, and said second strand being arranged in a regular pattern, and said first and second strands being loosely interlocked to form a continuous tubular wall to provide different properties at different portions along said tubular member, wherein the second strand is positioned on one surface of the tubular member at an end of the tubular member and on an opposite surface of the tubular member at a central region of the tubular member.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
