Claim 3
Dependent Claim
31 words
The catheter assembly of claim 1 wherein the guide member coextends exteriorly with a proximal portion of said inflation tube and coextends interiorly with a distal portion of said inflation tube.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
The catheter assembly of claim 1 wherein at least one seal member is sized to contact the outer surface of said guide member when disposed therethrough to form an interference seal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
The catheter assembly of claim 3 wherein at least one of said seal members is an O-ring.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
199 words
An intravascular balloon catheter comprising: an elongated shaft having a proximal and a distal end and an inflation lumen extending therethrough, a proximal portion adapted to extend outside the body of a patient during use, and a distal portion adapted for positioning intravascularly during use, said shaft having an opening proximal said distal end of said shaft for slidably receiving a guide wire said opening in fluid communication with said inflation lumen; a dilatation balloon connected to the distal portion of said shaft and communicating with said inflation lumen, said balloon having a distal opening therein for receiving said guide wire, said distal opening in fluid communication with said inflation lumen; a distal seal member positioned proximate said distal opening adapted to provide a substantially sealing fit around said guide wire when slidably received therethrough to inhibit the egress of fluid in a substantially distal direction out of the balloon through said distal opening; and a proximal seal member positioned proximate said opening proximal said distal end of said shaft and adapted to provide a substantially sealing fit around said guide wire to inhibit the egress of fluid out of said opening proximal said distal end of said shaft.
