Abstract

Abstract A system and method for scaling graphic images determines a local background color on a pixel by pixel basis. The local background color for a particular pixel is determined based on scaled or unsealed pixels in the local area around the particular pixel. The local background color for each pixel can be used to influence the color selection for that pixel. The system can be to increase or reduce resolution. The system can operate with devices that scan horizontally or vertically, and from the left or right.
