Abstract

Abstract A power bridge for an electric vehicle propulsion system, comprising a switching circuit including first and second switching elements operable between "on" and "off" states and a midpoint detector coupled to the switching circuit for detecting a failure of at least one of the first and second switching elements, where the midpoint detector is capable of detecting and isolating a failure when the switching elements are in the "on" or the "off" states.
