A method for inhibiting calmodulin activity in a patient comprising administering to a patient a compound of the formula ##STR4## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein: R1, R4 and R5 are individually hydrogen, hydroxy, halo, trifluoromethyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or tertiary amino lower alkoxy; and R2 and R3 are individually hydrogen or lower alkyl, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, in an amount sufficient to inhibit calmodulin activity.
