Curable sealer and/or adhesive composition, and a method for coating same in a dry state with automotive paint, and coated substrates formed therewith

Claim 1

A curable sealer and/or adhesive composition comprising: (a) a polyoxyalkylene polymer having silicon-containing hydrolyzable end groups, wherein said polyoxyalkylene polymer comprises a structural unit of the formula (I):(--R 1 O--) q (I), where R 1 is an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and q is an integer providing a number average molecular weight for formula (I) of from about 500 to about 20,000, and each said silicon-containing hydrolyzable end group having the general formula (II): ##STR3## wherein Z is --R--, --R--O--R"--, --R--O--C(O)--, --C(O)NHR--, --C(O)NH--X--NHC(O)--NR"--R--, --C(O)NH--X--NHC(O)--O--R--, --C(O)NH--X--NHC(O)--S--R--, or --C(O)--R--, where R and R" are the same or different and each is a bivalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, X is an alkylene or aryl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R 2 is a hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group having 1-20 carbon atoms, or a triorganosiloxy group, R 3 is a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent group having 1-20 carbon atoms or an organosiloxy group, R 4 is a saturated or unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1-20 carbon atoms, a is 0 or 1, b is 0, 1 or 2, c is 0, 1, or 2, n is 0 or 1 and m is an integer between 0 to 18; and (b) an alkylarylsulfonamide material contained in an amount of from about 50 to about 100 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of said polyoxyalkylene polymer having a silicon-containing hydrolyzable group.
