Abstract

Abstract Lubricant compositions are disclosed which comprise polyalkylene glycols and hydrocarbon solvents having 15 or less carbon atoms per molecule. The polyalkylene glycols are soluble in fluorocarbon-based refrigerants, such as for example, HFC-134a, and the hydrocarbon solvents are soluble in the polyalkylene glycols. Thus, the lubricant compositions are particularly well suited as lubricants in refrigeration systems, such as for example, automobile air conditioners, which contain fluorocarbon-based refrigerants. Refrigerant/lubricant compositions comprising refrigerants and the lubricant compositions are also disclosed.
