Abstract

Abstract A video signal processing apparatus including an input unit for inputting a video signal, a detecting unit for detecting an aspect ratio of the video signal inputted to the input unit, a holding unit for holding aspect information representing the aspect ratio detected by the detecting unit, an abnormal state detecting unit for detecting an abnormal state of the video signal inputted to the input unit, and an output unit for selectively outputting aspect information outputted from the aspect ratio detecting unit and the aspect information held by the holding unit, in accordance with an output of the abnormal state detecting unit.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 102 words
A video signal processing apparatus comprising: a) input means for inputting a video signal; b) detecting means for detecting an aspect ratio of said video signal inputted to said input means; c) holding means for holding aspect information representing said aspect ratio detected by said detecting means; d) abnormal state detecting means for detecting an abnormal state of said video signal inputted to said input means; and e) output means for selectively outputting aspect information outputted from said aspect ratio detecting means and said aspect information held by said holding means, in accordance with an output of said abnormal state detecting means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 102 words
A video signal processing apparatus comprising: a) input means for inputting a video signal; b) detecting means for detecting an aspect ratio of said video signal inputted to said input means; c) holding means for holding aspect information representing said aspect ratio detected by said detecting means; d) abnormal state detecting means for detecting an abnormal state of said video signal inputted to said input means; and e) output means for selectively outputting aspect information outputted from said aspect ratio detecting means and said aspect information held by said holding means, in accordance with an output of said abnormal state detecting means.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
A video signal processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said holding means holds said aspect information outputted from said aspect ratio detecting means at least during one vertical synchronization period.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
A video signal processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said aspect information representing said aspect ratio of said video signal is superposed on said video signal inputted to said input means, within the vertical blanking period.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 36 words
A video signal processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said abnormal state detecting means detects an abnormal state basing upon a presence/absence of a cutting pulse on a vertical synchronization signal of said video signal.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
A video signal processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said abnormal state detecting means detects an abnormal state basing upon the number of horizontal synchronization signals between vertical synchronization signals of said video signal.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 52 words
A video signal processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising display means for displaying said inputted video signal, and aspect ratio setting means for setting said aspect ratio of an image of said video signal displayed on said display means, in accordance with said aspect ratio outputted from said output means.
