Claim 1
Independent Claim 67 words
A process for preparing 1,1-dichloro-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropane, comprising: reacting 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexachloropropane in the liquid phase with hydrogen fluoride, in a mole ratio of hydrogen fluoride to 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexachloropropane of at least 4 and not exceed more than 20, at a reaction temperature of at least about 100° C. and not more than about 150° C., and in the presence of a tin tetrachloride catalyst to produce 1,1-dichloro-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropane; and recovering said 1,1-dichloro-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropane.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 67 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
The process according to claim 1, wherein the tin tetrachloride catalyst is used in a ratio of 0.005 to 0.1 mol of catalyst per mol of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexachloropropane.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 26 words
The process according to claim 1, wherein the mole ratio of hydrogen fluoride to the 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexachloropropane used is at least 6 and does not exceed 17.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
The process according to claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out at a pressure of at least 2 bar and not more than 50 bar.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
The process according to claim 4, wherein the pressure at which the reaction is carried out is at least 10 bar.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 26 words
The process according to claim 1, wherein the catalyst is used in a ratio of about 0.02 to 0.06 mol of catalyst per mol of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexachloropropane.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 25 words
The process according to claim 1, wherein a mole ratio of hydrogen fluoride to 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexachloropropane used is at least 8 and does not exceed 17.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 26 words
The process according to claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out at a pressure of at least 20 bar and not more than 30 bar.
