Abstract
Abstract A compound video test signal for testing video apparatus, such as a video tape recorder, includes a plurality of at least three blocks each block including a set of constituent test signals, each of the set of constituent test signals being reproduced in corresponding segments in each of the blocks. Preferably, the number of blocks is the largest whole number defined by the number of lines in a video field divided by the product of the number of different constituent test signals and the minimum number of lines per segment required for analysis.
