A retractable apparatus for holding beverage cups and cans, said apparatus attached by attaching means to a supporting surface, said supporting surface extending in a generally vertical direction, said apparatus comprising: a body, said body comprising first display means for displaying visible promotional material; at least one movable member mounting on said body, said first movable member movable between a first position and a second position, said first movable member including aperture means therethrough for generally surrounding a circumferentially extending wall of a cup or can positioned in an upright condition in said aperture means when said movable member is in the first position, wherein in the second position of said movable member said first display means is visible through said aperture means.

The apparatus according to claim 2 wherein said aperture means comprises a generally circular first opening bounded by a first edge on said first member, said first opening having a first diameter, and wherein in the first position of said movable member said first edge extends generally horizontal, and wherein the first diameter of said first opening is smaller than an upper diameter of a first cup having a circumferentially sidewall that is tapered outwardly from bottom to top, and larger than a lower diameter of said cup, whereby in the first position of said first movable member said first cup is supportable in said first opening about said first edge.

The apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said first movable member includes a clearance area therein, whereby a handle portion of said cup is enabled to pass through said clearance area when said movable member is in the first position.

A retractable apparatus for holding beverage cups of various sizes, said cups generally circular in cross section and having a side wall tapered outwardly from bottom to top, said apparatus adapted for attachment to a supporting surface, said supporting surface extending in a generally vertical direction, said apparatus comprising: a body; a first movable member including a generally circular first opening bounded by a first edge extending about said first opening on said first member, said first opening having a first diameter, said first diameter smaller than an outer diameter of a first cup in a first location adjacent the top thereof; first pivot means for connecting said body and said first movable member and for enabling movement of said first movable member between a first position wherein said movable member extends outward from said supporting surface wherein said first edge extends generally horizontal, and a second position wherein said first movable member is adjacent said supporting surface, wherein when said first movable member is in the first position said first cup is enabled to be held in said first opening and supported generally upright therein about said first location by said edge of said first opening.

A retractable apparatus for holding beverage cups of various sizes, said cups generally circular in cross section and having a side wall tapered outwardly from bottom to top, said apparatus adapted for attachment to a supporting surface, said supporting surface extending in a generally vertical direction, said apparatus comprising: a body; a first movable member including a generally circular first opening bounded by a first edge extending about said first opening on said first member, said first opening having a first diameter, said first diameter smaller than an outer diameter of a first cup in a first location adjacent the top thereof; first pivot means for connecting said body and said first movable member and for enabling movement of said first movable member between a first position wherein said movable member extends outward from said supporting surface wherein said first edge extends generally horizontal, and a second position wherein said first movable member is adjacent said supporting surface, wherein when said first movable member is in the first position said first cup is enabled to be held in said first opening and supported generally upright therein about said first location by said edge of said first opening.
