Abstract

Abstract A display apparatus has pixels arranged along rows and columns in which each pixel is defined by a pair of opposed electrodes. The pixels are provided by sub-pixels with color filters of different colors wherein integral light quantities of the same color sub-pixels of adjacent pixels are different. The display apparatus is capable of selecting a first display operation in which a single pixel is displayed as one display unit, as well as a second display operation in which at least two adjacent pixels are combined to form one display unit.
