Abstract

Abstract A scalpel for eye surgery having a blade member with a plurality of juxtaposed cutting sections arranged successively along the blade member. The cutting sections have respective cutting edges defining respective widths and lengths of incisions. Each cutting section is visually delineated from the other cutting sections by different coloration or other marking indicia, such that each cutting section will visually indicate the depth and width of an incision made by inserting the blade member into a body to the depth of the respective cutting section. The scalpel can include both a keratome type blade member and a scleral dissector blade member on a common support stem.
