Abstract
Abstract A patient is presented with a series of sinusoidal gratings truncated at varying diameters in each quadrant of the visual field (superior nasal, inferior nasal, superior temporal, inferior temporal). The patient fixates on a central point and identifies the point in the series at which he can see the patterns. Comparison of the diameter at which the patient can first perceive the pattern with a standard value provides an indication of not only the existence of optic neuropathy but also the magnitude of the damage.
