A method of combating multiple drug resistance of susceptible tumor cells in a subject in need of such treatment, comprising administering to the subject a compound, in an amount effective to combat multiple drug resistance of tumor cells sensitive to said compound, wherein said compound is selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## wherein R is C 1-4 alkyl, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
