Abstract

Abstract The fillet-forming ability of brazeable aluminum alloy materials, such as brazing sheet or heat exchanger components, for example fins, tubes and headers, is significantly improved by treating the material, prior to brazing, with an aqueous acid solution containing a dilute mixture of HF and HNO3. The treatment generally takes place for a period of not less than 5 seconds within the temperature range from about 15 to about 98 DEG C.
