Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 106 words
A medical device for contact with a blood stream comprising an article having coated thereon a composition comprising a mixture of a quaternary ammonium complex of heparin and about 2 to 75% by weight of a noncuring lubricating silicone, said complex having the formula ##STR3## wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are independently selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group of 1 to about 18 carbon atoms and an aralkyl group of about 7 to 18 carbon atoms and H - is a negative ion of heparin, said silicone having a viscosity of about 20 to 1,000,000 centistokes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 106 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 15 words
The device of claim 1 wherein said viscosity is from about 1,000 to 60,000 centistokes.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 46 words
The device of claim 1 wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are independently alkyl groups selected from the group having 8 to 18 carbon atoms and R 4 is an alkyl group selected from the group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 11 words
The device of claim 1 wherein said article is a catheter.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 12 words
The device of claim 1 wherein said device is a catheter introducer.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 116 words
A medical device of claim 1 for contact with a blood stream comprising a shaped article having coated thereon a composition comprising a mixture of a quaternary ammonium complex of heparin and about 20 to 50% by weight of a noncuring lubricating polydimethylsiloxane, said complex having the formula ##STR4## wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are independently selected from the group consisting of a straight chain alkyl group of 8 to 18 carbon atoms, R 4 is selected from the group consisting of a lower alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and H - is a negative ion of heparin, said polydimethylsiloxane having a viscosity of about 1,000 to 60,000 centistokes.
