Abstract

Abstract An optical recording material comprising (I) a substrate, (II) a recording layer provided on said substrate, the recording layer consisting of light transmissive portions and light screening portions, and (III) a reflective metallic thin film layer provided on the recording layer; as well as a process therefor. The invention also includes an optical card comprising the optical recording material provided on a card substrate. In the cases of the optical recording material and the optical card, it is possible to readily carry out high density recording, the alternation of written informaton is difficult, and the written information can be read out on a basis of the difference in light reflectivity.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 130 words
A process for preparing an optical recording material, comprising the steps of: applying a photosensitive material for a first recording layer onto a substrate, said photosensitive material comprising (i) a transparent resin as a binder, (ii) a photodecomposable development restrainer having a diazo or azido group, and (iii) a reducible metal complex compound or a metal compound which is reduced to form metal nuclei; imagewise exposing the substrate provided with said photosensitive material applied thereon; developing the thus exposed photosensitive material to form the first recording layer; forming a reflective metallic thin film layer for a second recording layer on said first recording layer; and irradiating only the thus formed reflective metallic thin film layer with an energy beam to provide recording spots therein to form the second recording layer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 130 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 28 words
The process of claim 1, wherein said metal compound comprises a water-soluble salt of a metal selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, And Cu.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 39 words
The process of claim 1, wherein said metal compound is at least one member selected from the group consisting of halide, sulfate and nitrate of a metal selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, and Cu.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 15 words
The process of claim 1, wherein said metal compound is a water-soluble salt of Ni.
