Abstract
Abstract A linear motor comprises a first yoke (19), a second yoke (20) spaced by a first gap (25) from the first yoke (19), a current-carrying coil (21) surrounding at least one of the first yoke (19) and the second yoke (20), and a magnet (14) spaced by a second gap (27) from the first and second yokes (19, 20). An end portion of the magnet (14) extends over the first gap (25) when the magnet (14) is in an end or starting position.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
176 words
A linear motor, comprising: a first yoke having a first connecting portion extending therefrom; a second yoke spaced apart the predetermined width of a first gap from said first yoke, said second yoke including a second connecting portion extending therefrom; a first coil wound around said first connecting portion of said first yoke; a second coil wound around said second connecting portion of said second yoke; a third yoke substantially of a U-shape having upper and lower flanges, said lower flange of said third yoke being connected to said first and second connecting portions, said upper flange of said third yoke being spaced from said first and second yokes and being on an opposite side of said first and second yokes from said lower flange so that said first and second yokes are between said upper and lower flanges; and a magnet provided in opposed relation with and spaced apart the predetermined width of a second gap from said first and second yokes, said magnet being between said upper flange and said first and second yokes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
47 words
A linear motor according to claim 1, wherein a front end portion of said magnet extends over said first gap and is positioned in opposed relation with not only said first yoke but also part of said second yoke when said magnet is in an initial state.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
46 words
Linear motor according to claim 2, wherein sides of said first and second yokes which are opposite to each other are partially brought near to each other so as to form said first gap, and the rest of said sides are spaced apart from each other.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
16 words
A linear motor according to claim 1, wherein said magnet is secured to said third yoke.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
40 words
A linear motor according to claim 2, wherein front end portion of said magnet extends over said first gap and is positioned in opposed relation with not only said first yoke but also a part of said first second yokes.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
34 words
A linear motor as claimed in claim 1, wherein said third yoke is divided into at least two yoke parts and said two yoke parts are spaced from each other by a third gap.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
21 words
A linear motor as claimed in claim 6, wherein said third gap is in a common plane with said first gap.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
28 words
A linear motor as claimed in claim 6, wherein said third gap is in a plane parallel to a plane in which said first and second yokes lie.
