Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
103 words
A method of flocculating an aqueous dispersion of suspended solids which comprises (a) adding to and mixing with the dispersion from about 0.1 to about 50,000 parts per million of dispersion, solids of an aqueous solution of a water-insoluble, cross-linked, cationic, polymeric flocculant, having an unswollen number average particle size diameter of less than about 0.5 micron, a solution viscosity of from about 1.2 to about 1.8 mPa.s and a cross-linking agent content above about 4 molar parts per million based on the monomeric units present in the polymer to flocculate said suspended solids, and separating the flocculated suspended solids from said dispersion.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method as defined in claim 1 wherein the polymeric flocculant has a cross-linking agent content of from about 4 to about 2000 molar parts per million.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method as defined in claim 1 wherein the polymeric flocculant has a cross-linking agent content of from about 50 to about 500 molar parts per million.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
24 words
A method as defined in claim 1 wherein said polymeric flocculant is a polymer formed from an acrylamide and at least one cationic monomer.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
20 words
A method as defined in claim 1 wherein said polymeric flocculant is a polymer formed from acrylamide and acryloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride.
