Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 63 words
A polymeric laminate of plasticized polyvinyl butyral sheet containing about 17 to 25 weight % vinyl alcohol groups calculated as polyvinyl alcohol, said sheet being in face-adhering, inseparable bonding contact with a polyurethane layer as a result of chemical linkages formed at the interface between the sheet and layer by reaction between the vinyl alcohol groups and isocyanate groups associated with the polyurethane.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 63 words
A polymeric laminate of plasticized polyvinyl butyral sheet containing about 17 to 25 weight % vinyl alcohol groups calculated as polyvinyl alcohol, said sheet being in face-adhering, inseparable bonding contact with a polyurethane layer as a result of chemical linkages formed at the interface between the sheet and layer by reaction between the vinyl alcohol groups and isocyanate groups associated with the polyurethane.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 13 words
The laminate of claim 1 wherein the urethane groups have the formula: ##STR4##
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 10 words
The laminate of claim 2 wherein the polyurethane is thermoset.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 10 words
The laminate of claim 3 wherein the polyurethane is aliphatic.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 11 words
The laminate of claim 3 wherein the polyurethane is heat cured.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
The laminate of any of claims 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 wherein the polyurethane comprises the reaction product of polyol and diisocyanate.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 15 words
The laminate of claim 1 where urethane groups are the linkages resulting from the reaction.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 18 words
The laminate of claim 8 wherein the thickness of the polyurethane layer is about 1 to 10 mils.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 38 words
The laminate of claim 8 wherein the polyurethane layer is formed from (i) polyol (ii) cross-linking agent and (iii) diisocyanate present in amount sufficient to react with both the polyol and vinyl alcohol groups of the polyvinyl butyral.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 12 words
The laminate of claim 9 wherein the cross-linking agent is trimethylol propane.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 28 words
The laminate of claim 1, 8, 9, 10 or 11 wherein the NCO/OH equivalent ratio of the reaction mixture which formed the polyurethane was between 1.01/1 to 1.3/1.
