Abstract

Abstract Zofenopril, fosinopril, (S)-1-[6-amino-2-[[hydroxy(4-phenylbutyl)phosphinyl]oxy]-oxohexyl]-L-proline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof alone or in combination with a thrombolytic, antiarrhythmic, or antifibrillatory agent is employed to reduce pre- and post- ischemic myocardial arrhythmias and fibrillations as well as reducing arrhythmias associated with congestive heart failure.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 67 words
A method of reducing pre- and post-ischemic arrhythmias and fibrillation as well as reducing arrhythmias associated with congestive heart failure in a mammalian species which comprises administering to a mammalian species in need of such treatment an effective amount of zofenopril or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of zofenopril alone or in combination with a thrombolytic agent, antiarrhythmic agent, or antifibrillatory agent or with a non-pharmaceutical reperfusion technique.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 67 words
A method of reducing pre- and post-ischemic arrhythmias and fibrillation as well as reducing arrhythmias associated with congestive heart failure in a mammalian species which comprises administering to a mammalian species in need of such treatment an effective amount of zofenopril or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of zofenopril alone or in combination with a thrombolytic agent, antiarrhythmic agent, or antifibrillatory agent or with a non-pharmaceutical reperfusion technique.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 1 wherein administration of the agent or agents occurs within six hours of myocardial infarction.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the method of administration is oral, intravenous, by arterial angiography, or by intracoronary injection.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the agent or agents are administered prior to, during, or after reperfusion.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the agent or agents are administered during coronary occlusion and reperfusion.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 20 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the only therapeutic agent employed is zofenopril or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of zofenopril.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 29 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the agents employed are zofenopril or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of zofenopril and a thrombolytic agent, an antiarrhythmic agent, or an antifibrillatory agent.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 31 words
The method of claim 7 wherein the other agent is a thrombolytic agent selected from the group consisting of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), recombinant tissue plasminogen activator, streptokinase, urokinase, and prourokinase.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 39 words
The method of claim 7 wherein the other agent is an antiarrhythmic or antifibrillatory agent selected from the group consisting of quinidine, procainamide, disopyramide, lidocaine, tocainide, phenyltoin, flecainide, encainide, amiodarone, bretylium, cloflilium, verapamil, diltiazem, sotalol, propranolol, nadolol, and metoprolol.
