Abstract

Abstract An aluminum alloy for abrasion resistant die castings comprising by weight, 6.0 to 9.0% Cu, 0.5 to 2.0% Mn, 1.6 to 3.0% Fe, 3% or less Mg, together with 13.5 to 20.0% Si, 0.5% or less Ni, an inevitable impurity of 0.3% or less Sn, and the remainder being Al, prepared by crystallizing out primary Si crystals of Si and Al-Fe-Mn-Si compounds and by forming a solid solution with Cu and Mg in the alloy's matrix.
