Abstract

Abstract A cooling device for cooling parts in the proximity thereof consisting of a single pouch or a plurality of continuous pouches, wherein each pouch has at least one face thereof being made of water-permeable material and has sealed therein a hygroscopically swelling material. Due to such construction, the sealed material of the cooling device in an unemployed state, i.e., before being chilled in a freezer or freezing compartment, is not hygroscopically swelled and is not voluminous so that it can be decreased in weight by reducing the quantity of the sealed material which can improve the transportation efficiency, resulting in lowered transportation costs. Furthermore, the device can be easily and securely attached to any body part or object such as the shoulder of a man or a beer bottle.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 135 words
A cooling device for cooling an object or body part in proximity thereto, said cooling device including a cooling bag comprising a pouch constituted of a pair of opposed walls, one of said walls being made of water impermeable sheet and the other of said walls being made of water permeable sheet capable of infiltrating water into said pouch by merely immersing said pouch in water, said opposed walls having the entire peripheries thereof completely bonded together to form a space between said opposed walls, and a filling of hygroscopically swellable material in a powder form in said space of said pouch, said material being capable of swelling by absorbing water which is infiltrated into said space of said pouch through said wall made of water permeable sheet by merely immersing said pouch in water.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 135 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
A cooling device according to claim 1, comprising a plurality of said cooling bags, said cooling bags being interconnected linearly to form a flexible belt-shaped unit.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 35 words
A cooling device according to claim 1, comprising a plurality of said cooling bags, said cooling bags being interconnected in two orthogonal directions to form a sheet-shaped unit which is flexible in both said directions.
