Abstract
Abstract The instant invention relates to thyristors and triacs. In order to desensitize thyristors and triacs, it is usual to provide for emitter shorts through which the gate region crosses the emitter region. Those holes are generally scattered on the whole surface of the emitter region. According to the instant invention, they are grouped in the form of narrow stripes such as the stripes 30 and 32 shown in the figure. It is to be appreciated that a substantial improvement of the triggering uniformity is achieved fror thyristors and triacs, and, for triacs, an improvement from the ON to the OFF state is achieved thanks to a better extraction of the charges stored during the conduction phase.
