Abstract
Abstract Block copolymers of glycolide and p-dioxanone are produced by reacting poly(p-dioxanone) that is substantially free of p-dioxanone monomer with glycolide.

A glycolide/p-dioxanone block copolymer which consists essentially of from 40 to 90 weight percent polymerized glycolide, the remainder being polymerized p-dioxanone, and which has an overall crystallinity of from about 25 to 45 percent, a glycolide-based crystallinity of from about 15 to 40 percent, and a melting temperature, by hot stage microscopy, within the range of from 140° C. to about 230° C.
