Abstract

Abstract In a special playback apparatus for a VTR, an address clear signal for setting a write start timing of the video data is derived from a reference signal of a servo circuit in a video tape recorder. In order to obtain a slow playback image of 1/M times (where M is a natural number), a signal serving as a reference signal for capstan servo in the playback mode is divided at a frequency division ratio of 1/M to prepare a slow playback reference signal. The memory write operation is started upon generation of N address clear signals (i.e., at the Nth clear signal) after generation of the 1/M frequency-divided signal according to the value of M, thus providing a special playback apparatus for a VTR. The apparatus is capable of writing in a memory a playback image signal whose playback RF signal has a maximum amplitude.
