Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 59 words
The method of treating a patient having at least one periodontal pocket which comprises introducing into said pocket a pharmaceutical composition comprising collagen as the vehicle and at least one antiseptic or anti-inflammatory substance as the active principle and maintaining said pharmaceutical composition in said pocket until said collagen is absorbed therefrom, said composite being in a flexible form.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 59 words
The method of treating a patient having at least one periodontal pocket which comprises introducing into said pocket a pharmaceutical composition comprising collagen as the vehicle and at least one antiseptic or anti-inflammatory substance as the active principle and maintaining said pharmaceutical composition in said pocket until said collagen is absorbed therefrom, said composite being in a flexible form.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said active principle is selected from the group consisting of chlorhexidine and its salts.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
The method of claim 2 wherein said active principle is selected from the group consisting of chlorhexidine diacetate, chlorhexidine digluconate and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 17 words
A method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the weight ratio collagen/chlorhexidine is betwene 1:1 and 3:1.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method as claimed in claim 4 in which said composition is in the form of a film.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method as claimed in claim 4, in which said composition is in the form of a lyophilizate.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method as claimed in claim 4, in which said composition is in the form of an implant.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
A method as claimed in claim 2, in which the active principle concentration is between 0.5 mg and 5 mg per unit dose.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the collagen used is a non-decrosslinked native collagen of bovine origin.
Claim 11
Independent Claim 95 words
A method as claimed in 1 wherein said pharmaceutical composition is prepared by the following steps: (a) the collagen is solubilized in acetic acid until a solution with a collagen concentration of between 0.5 g and 5 per 100 g of solution is obtained; (b) the active principle is solubilized in distilled water until a solution with an active principle concentration of between 1 g and 2 g per 100 g of solution is obtained; and (c) the two solutions obtained after steps (a) and (b) are mixed together and the solvents are then removed.
