Abstract

Abstract A spinel type ceramic sintered body is provided starting from a chromiferous slag which is a waste discharged from sodium chromate production, said sintered body being reproducable by selecting the mole ratios of R2O/MgO to 0.9-2.0 and SiO2/MgO to 1-6 wherein R represents collectively Al, Fe and Cr, the sintered body having high thermal conductivity falling within the range of 1.3-2.5 kcal/mh DEG C., specific electric resistance falling within the range of 102-107 cm high mechanical strengths and unique coloration and which can be used as a functional tile.
