Abstract

Abstract A hydraulic buffer of the type in which a damping force can be controlled has a piston rod projecting from a cylinder, and a bracket attached to the projecting end of the piston rod. The bracket has at least two claws which are bent inwardly to face each other. A retainer is provided with at least two fitting portions having flukes and the fitting portions are adapted to engage with respective claws of the bracket. An actuator is attached to the retainer to control the damping force of the buffer. A spring device is provided for biasing the retainer to prevent the flukes from being disengaged from the corresponding claws of the bracket, and the spring device supports the retainer on the bracket.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 117 words
A hydraulic buffer of the type in which the damping force can be controlled and which comprises: a piston rod projecting from a cylinder; a bracket attached to the projecting end of said piston rod and having at least two claws which are bent inwardly to face each other; a retainer provided with at least two fitting portions having flukes engaging with respective of said claws of said bracket; an actuator attached to said retainer to control the damping force of the buffer; and spring means for biasing said retainer axially of said piston rod to prevent said flukes from being disengaged from the corresponding claws of said bracket and for supporting said retainer on said bracket.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 117 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
A hydraulic buffer according to claim 1, wherein said bracket is secured to said projecting end of said piston rod by means of a nut screwed onto said projecting end of said piston rod.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
A hydraulic buffer according to claim 1, wherein said spring means is a disc spring disposed between said bracket and said retainer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 22 words
A hydraulic buffer according to claim 1, wherein said spring means is a coil spring disposed between said bracket and said retainer.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 36 words
A hydraulic buffer according to claim 1, wherein said spring means comprises a coil spring disposed between said bracket and said retainer, and a leaf spring arranged in said retainer to bias said flukes diametrically outwardly.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A hydraulic buffer as claimed in claim 5, wherein said leaf spring is substantially U-shaped and includes opposite legs biasing respective said flukes outwardly.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 22 words
A hydraulic buffer as claimed in claim 1, wherein said bracket is non-rotatably connected to said projecting end of said piston rod.
