Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 70 words
In a secondary battery of the type having two electrodes and an electrolyte into which the electrodes are inserted, a first of said electrodes being a negative electrode, a second of said electrodes being a positive electrode, the improvement wherein said first electrode consists essentially of an electrode support carrying an electrolytically reduced product obtained by electrolytic reduction of a saccharide alone, or said product admixed with an electroconductive material.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 70 words
In a secondary battery of the type having two electrodes and an electrolyte into which the electrodes are inserted, a first of said electrodes being a negative electrode, a second of said electrodes being a positive electrode, the improvement wherein said first electrode consists essentially of an electrode support carrying an electrolytically reduced product obtained by electrolytic reduction of a saccharide alone, or said product admixed with an electroconductive material.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 11 words
The battery of claim 1, wherein the saccharide is a polysaccharide.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
The battery of claim 2, wherein the saccharide is a cellulose or a hemicellulose.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 11 words
The battery of claim 3, wherein the saccharide is a cellulose.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
The battery of claim 1, wherein said second electrode comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of a metal chalcogenide compound, a carbonaceous material and an electroconductive polymer.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 11 words
The battery of claim 1 wherein said electrolyte contains lithium ions.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
The battery of claim 6 wherein said second electrode consists essentially of an electrode support carrying an electrolytically reduced product obtained by electrolytic reduction of a saccharide or said product admixed with an electroconductive material.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 14 words
The battery of claim 1 wherein the saccharide is a monosaccharide, disaccharide or trisaccharide.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 16 words
The battery of claim 1 wherein said electrode support is an electroconductive or an insulating carrier.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 96 words
In a secondary battery having first and second electrodes and an electrolyte into which the electrodes are inserted, said first electrode being a negative electrode, said second electrode being positive electrode, the improvement wherein said first electrode comprises an electrode support carrying an electrolytically reduced product obtained by subjecting the negative electrode support to cathode reduction in an electrolyte solution containing saccharide to deposit the saccharide on the negative electrode support and form the negative electrode; said battery being charged by doping cations to the negative electrode and discharged by dedoping cations from the negative electrode.
Claim 12
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 11 words
The battery of claim 10 wherein said cations are lithium ions.
