Abstract

Abstract Solid stick compositions comprising a long-chain fatty alcohol having from about 8 to about 18 carbon atoms in the chain, volatile silicone and C20 or longer chain alcohols at levels of from about 1% to about 3% of the total long-chain fatty alcohol present in the compositions. These solid sticks have improved strength and hardness without undue brittleness.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 107 words
An improved solid antiperspirant stick composition comprising a. from about 5% to about 20% of a long-chain fatty alcohol having from about 8 to about 18 carbon atoms in its chain; b. from about 35% to about 55% volatile silicone; and c. from about 10% to about 70% of an astringent antiperspirant salt; wherein the improvement comprises improving the strength of said stick without undue brittleness by additionally including an alcohol selected from the group consisting of C 20 alcohol, alcohols whose chains are longer than C 20 and mixtures thereof, at a level of from about 1% to about 3% of the total fatty alcohol level.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 107 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 38 words
A solid stick composition as described in claim 1 which additionally contains from about 1% to about 10% of a wax selected from the group consisting of castor wax, fatty acids, silicone waxes, glycerol monostearate, and mixtures thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 45 words
A solid stick composition as described in claim 2 wherein said long-chain fatty alcohol is present at a level of from about 10% to about 15% and is selected from the group consisting of cetyle alcohol, stearyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, lauryl alcohol, and mixtures thereof.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 36 words
A solid stick composition as described in claim 3 wherein said volatile silicone is selected from the group consisting of cyclic and linear polydimethylsiloxanes having from about 3 to about 9 silicone atoms in their chain.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
A solid stick composition as described in claim 4 which additionally contains from about 1% to about 10% of an emollient.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 39 words
A solid stick composition as described in claim 5 wherein said emollient is selected from the group consisting of ethylene oxide condensation products, propylene oxide condensation products, fatty acid esters, fatty alcohol esters, water insoluble ethers, and mixtures thereof.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 25 words
A solid stick composition as described in claim 6 wherein said astringent antiperspirant salt is a complex of aluminum chlorhydroxide, a zirconium compound and glycine.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 106 words
An improved solid deodorant stick composition comprising a. from about 5% to about 20% of a long-chain fatty alcohol having from about 8 to about 18 carbon atoms in its chain; b. from about 35% to about 55% volatile silicone; and c. from about 0.1% to about 1.0% of a deodorant material wherein the improvement comprises improving the strength of said stick without undue brittleness by additionally including an alcohol selected from the group consisting of C 20 alcohol, alcohols whose claims are longer than C 20 and mixtures thereof, at a level of from about 1% to about 3% of the total fatty alcohol level.
