Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
69 words
A method for the uniform orientation of the molecules of a liquid crystalline substance with respect to a substrate to which said substance is to be applied which comprises treating the surface of said substrate prior to application of said substance with a solution of at least one steroid, or at least one porphyrin dyestuff or both, and thereafter applying the liquid crystalline substance to the thus treated surface.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
69 words
A method for the uniform orientation of the molecules of a liquid crystalline substance with respect to a substrate to which said substance is to be applied which comprises treating the surface of said substrate prior to application of said substance with a solution of at least one steroid, or at least one porphyrin dyestuff or both, and thereafter applying the liquid crystalline substance to the thus treated surface.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
13 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein said solution is an aqueous solution.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
16 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein said solution is a solution in an organic solvent.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein said solution has a concentration of from 0.005 to 0.05%.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
15 words
A method according to claim 4 wherein said solution has a concentration of about 0.01%.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
30 words
A method according to claim 1 which includes the steps of moistening said substrate with said solution, and then tilting said substrate to permit the excess solution to run off.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
14 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein said solution is sprayed on said substrate.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
14 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein said substrate is immersed into said solution.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
23 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein said solution is contained on an absorbent carrier, and said carrier is pressed against said substrate.
