Abstract

Abstract A television camera-recorder combination includes an imager which forms a signal representative of the image during an integration interval. The integration interval is followed by a pull-down interval during which the integrated signal is transferred out of the photoresponsive region. Streaking of an image displayed from the signal results from light falling on the photoresponsive region during the pull-down interval. A mechanical shutter periodically prevents light from falling upon the photoresponsive region of the imager. The shutter is synchronized with the pull-down interval. The synchronization and drive arrangement of the video recorder portion is mechanically coupled to the shutter to provide a common drive. In another embodiment, a color wheel associated with the viewfinder of the camera is mechanically coupled to the video recorder drive arrangement for common mechanical drive.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 146 words
A television arrangement for generating television signals representative of a scene, the arrangement comprising: solid-state image transducing means having a photosensitive area responsive to clock signals for generating charge packets in response to light from said scene reaching said photosensitive area during an image integration interval substantially corresponding to a television field trace interval, and transferring said charge packets out of said photosensitive area during a relatively shorter duration charge transfer interval which occurs after said image integration interval and within a television field retrace interval; and shuttering means, having an adjustable aperture for blocking substantially all light from said scene from reaching said image transducing means during said charge transfer interval and for varying the amount of light blocked from reaching said image transducing means during said image integration interval for improving the resolution of the camera when moving images are present in said scene.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 146 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 15 words
The camera according to claim 1 wherein said image transducing means is a charge-coupled device.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 15 words
The camera according to claim 2 wherein said charge-coupled device is a frame transfer imager.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 76 words
The camera according to claim 1 wherein said shuttering means comprises first and second rotating shutters coaxially arranged to block light from said scene from reaching said photosensitive surface during a portion of a television field, the relative rotational position between said first and second shutters being adjustable to vary that portion of a television field during which light is blocked to include all of said charge transfer interval and a portion of said integration interval.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 95 words
The camera according to claim 4 wherein said first shutter includes a first blade driven at a predetermined speed and phase for blocking radiant energy from said scene from reaching said photosensitive surface during a fixed portion of said television field including at least all of said charge transfer interval, and said second shutter includes a second blade coaxially arranged with said first shutter for rotation at the same predetermined speed but at a controllably different phase then said first shutter for controllably varying that portion of the television field during which light is blocked.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 26 words
The camera according to claim 5 wherein said coaxial shutter rotating arrangement is mechanically adjustable for changing the phase relationship between said first and second shutters.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 161 words
A television arrangement for generating television signals representative of a scene, the arrangement comprising: solid-state image transducing means having a photosensitive area responsive to clock signals for generating charge packets in response to light from said scene reaching said photosensitive area during an image integration interval substantially corresponding to a television field trace interval, and transferring said charge packets out of said photosensitive area during a relatively shorter duration charge transfer interval which occurs after said image integration interval and within a television field retrace interval; and shuttering means comprising first and second rotating shutters coaxially arranged to block light from said scene from reaching said photosensitive surface during a portion of each television field interval, the relative rotational position between said first and second shutters being adjustable to vary that portion of a television field interval during which light is blocked to include all of said television field retrace interval and a variable portion of said television field trace interval.
