Abstract
Abstract Amphoteric surface active monomers and monomer solutions are revealed. The monomers are synthesized by reacting a tertiary amine substituted acrylamide, an alkylene oxide and a succinic anhydride compound in aprotic polar solvent. These compositions are useful for their surface activity and their ability to copolymerize with water soluble vinyl monomers and impart surface activity to the resulting copolymer. The monomers and copolymers thereof may be used as flocculants or for stabilizing polymeric latex.
