Abstract

Abstract A process for binding and removing lipoproteins from aqueous fluids is described, the lipoproteins being bound to polyhydroxymethylene, onto which is grafted an oxyethylated alcohol or an oxyethylated carboxylic acid, and, where appropriate, being eluted from the polyhydroxymethylene. The process is also suitable for blood plasma or serum.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 50 words
A process for removing lipoproteins from an aqueous fluid, which comprises bringing said fluid into contact with a polyhydroxymethylene onto which has been grafted an oxyethylated alcohol or an oxyethylated carboxylic acid and separating the fluid from said polyhydroxymethylene to which at least some of said lipoproteins have become bound.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 50 words
A process for removing lipoproteins from an aqueous fluid, which comprises bringing said fluid into contact with a polyhydroxymethylene onto which has been grafted an oxyethylated alcohol or an oxyethylated carboxylic acid and separating the fluid from said polyhydroxymethylene to which at least some of said lipoproteins have become bound.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the alcohol is an alkanol having 4 to 30 carbon atoms, or the carboxylic acid is an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 4 to 20 carbon atoms.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 15 words
The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fluid is blood plasma or serum.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 57 words
A process for removing virtually all lipoprotein from an aqueous plasma or serum, which comprises bring said plasma or serum into contact with a polyhydroxymethylene onto which has been grafted an oxethylated alcohol or an oxethylated carboxylic acid and separating the plasma or serum from said polyhdroxymethylene to which virtually all of said lipoprotein has become bound.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 57 words
A process for removing virtually all lipoprotein from an aqueous plasma or serum, which comprises bring said plasma or serum into contact with a polyhydroxymethylene onto which has been grafted an oxethylated alcohol or an oxethylated carboxylic acid and separating the plasma or serum from said polyhdroxymethylene to which virtually all of said lipoprotein has become bound.
