Abstract

Abstract An electronic clinical thermometer which uses a small quantity of corrective data for correcting a non-linear output into a linear output to produce a correct temperature reading, and which includes a temperature sensing unit, a corrective data storage unit and an adder. The correction is performed by using the output of the sensing unit to address the storage unit to obtain a read-out of corrective data, and by adding the corrective data to the data in the sensing unit output by means of the adder. The output of the sensing unit has a resolution, or accuracy, higher than a predetermined temperature resolution. To read the corrective data out of the storage unit, the later is addressed by higher order bits of the sensing unit output, these bits representing a resolution which corresponds to the predetermined temperature resolution.
