Claim 1
Independent Claim
97 words
A cleaning device for removing liquid from a surface to be cleaned comprising: a suction nozzle; suction means for removing fluid from the surface through said suction nozzle; an upright conduit connecting said suction nozzle and said suction means; said suction nozzle including a first passage extending downwardly to said surface and a second passage having a first portion extending generally horizontally away from said first passage and a second portion extending upwardly to said conduit said first and second portions defining a trough for retaining fluid left in said conduit when said suction means is deactivated.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
29 words
A cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said trough in said suction nozzle is adjacent a pipe which provides the connection between said suction nozzle and said conduit.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
60 words
A cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said suction nozzle includes an interconnected inlet passage and an outlet passage said outlet passage having said first and second portions, said conduit being connected to said outlet passage, and a first wall of said outlet passage extends across the connection of said conduit and said outlet passage which forms said trough.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
27 words
A cleaning device according to claim 3 wherein said first wall extends diagonally from said connection to said inlet passage completely across the opening of said conduit.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
62 words
A cleaning deivce according to claim 1 wherein said suction nozzle includes an inlet passage connected to an outlet passage, said outlet passage providing said first and second portions, said conduit being connected to said outlet passage, the projected axis of said conduit intersecting said inlet passage at a point below the intersection of said first and second portions within said trough.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
63 words
A cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said suction nozzle includes an inlet passage connected to an outlet passage, said outlet passage providing said first and second portions, said portions intersecting at an oblique angle, said conduit is connected to said outlet passage, the projected flow axis of said conduit forms said oblique angle with the flow axis of said first portion.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
31 words
A cleaning device according to claim 6 wherein said inlet passage flow axis is substantially vertical and the flow axis of said first portion of said outlet passage is substantially horizontal.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
63 words
A cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said nozzle includes a substantially triangular front wall, U-shaped in cross section and a back wall, which define said inlet passage, said inlet passage being U-shaped in cross section across the flow axis of said first passage, the distance of separation of said front and back walls increasing from the base of said triangular walls.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
36 words
A cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said nozzle includes a substantially triangular front and back walls, the distance of separation of said front and back walls increasing from the base of said triangular walls.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
44 words
A cleaning device according to claim 9 including means for projecting a cleaning fluid onto said surface adjacent to said suction nozzle in the area defined between the legs of said U-shaped cross section of said wall, said legs depending below said back wall.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
39 words
A cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said nozzle includes an inlet passage, said inlet passage having along the flow axis a U-shaped cross section and a uniform cross-sectional area transverse to the flow axis of said passage.
