Abstract This invention relates to solutions of silanols prepared by hydrolysis of alkyltrialkoxysilanes whose alkoxy groups are partially or completely hydrolyzed. Preferred hydrolyzed alkyltrialkoxysilanes are of the formula CH3-CH2-CH2-Si(OH)n(OH')3-n.
