Abstract

Abstract A flash device for photography includes a DC/DC converter for boosting a DC power source voltage and applying a voltage to a main capacitor for supplying an energy for driving a flashlight tube. The converter has control means operative in response to the trigger operation by a start operating switch to detect any reduction in the charging current of the main capacitor and stop said operation. The flash device is provided with another switch means for enabling the operation of the converter independently of the start operating switch. Said another switch means is operative to operate the converter until the charging voltage of the main capacitor reaches a sufficient value to drive the flashlight tube.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 194 words
A flash device adapted to be operatively associated with a camera which automatically carries out a sequence of operations including initiation of photography causing depression of a shutter button and opening of a shutter, and a finishing operation of the photography causing closing of the shutter, returning of the shutter button and take-up of one frame of film, the flash device comprising: (a) a main capacitor for storing energy for generating flash light; (b) means for supplying direct current voltage; (c) a voltage convertor connected to said voltage supplying means and applying a boosted voltage of said direct current voltage to said main capacitor, the voltage convertor including a booster transformer and an oscillation circuit for applying an alternating current voltage to a primary winding of the transformer, the oscillation circuit being energized until said main capacitor is sufficiently charged; (d) actuating switch means for triggering said oscillation circuit to intitiate oscillation thereof, the switch means being previously operated prior to said sequence in the camera; and (e) re-actuating circuit means for triggering said oscillation circuit to initiate oscillation thereof, the reactuating circuit means being operatively associated with said finishing operation of said sequence.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
A flash device according to claim 1, wherein said re-actuating circuit means includes re-actuating switch means connected in parallel with said actuating switch means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
A flash device according to claim 1, wherein said oscillation circuit includes a transistor connected between said voltage supply means and the primary winding of said booster transformer and a further capacitor connected between the base and emitter of the transistor.
