Abstract
Abstract An electrophotographic apparatus for forming color images has a photosensitive member, a charging device for applying a primary charge, an imaging device for selectively exposing the photosensitive member to image light of different color components and a device for uniformly exposing the photosensitive member to near infrared light substantially simultaneously with the image exposure. Different color images are sequentially formed, developed and transferred to a transfer material to form a resultant color image with good color balance.

An electrophotographic apparatus for sequentially exposing a repeatedly usable photosensitive member to light images of different color components to form corresponding latent images for formation of a resultant multicolor image, said apparatus comprising: means for exposing at least a portion of said photosensitive member to light images of predetermined color components; and means for uniformly exposing said portion of said photosensitive member to near infrared light, substantially simultaneously with the exposure of said portion by said light image exposure means, wherein said uniform exposure light is mainly in a long wavelength range which is outside the wavelength to which said photosensitive member is principally sensitive.
