Abstract
Abstract A gear selection state in an electronically controlled automatic transmission for a vehicle is determined in relation to the vehicle speed and speed of opening of a throttle valve in an intake system, i.e. depression of speed of an accelerator pedal. According to this invention, the faster the speed of the accelerator pedal depression, the greater the change in the gear change pattern is increased. Thus, a more desirable vehicle acceleration response is obtained.
