Abstract

Abstract A light beam scanning apparatus in which a plurality of mutually equivalent diffraction gratings, or a plurality of mutually equivalent converging holographic lenses, is arranged on a disc in a circle equidistantly and equidirectionally. The disc is revolved at a constant speed around an axis vertical thereto that passes through the center of the circularlly arranged diffraction gratings, or the like. A laser beam is projected incident upon one of the diffraction gratings or holographic lenses on the disc at a predetermined location from a predetermined direction. The laser beam is diffracted by the diffraction grating or the holographic lens, and after converging once, becomes a diverging beam incident upon a concave mirror with a spherical or spheroidal reflecting surface which re-converges the diverging beam on a scan plane. The light re-converged on the scan plane scans the scan plane in accordance with displacement relative to the incident laser beam of the diffraction gratings or the like that are caused by the disc revolution. Due to switching by the disc revolution of the diffraction gratings or the like from one to the next that the laser beam is incident upon, scanning of the scan plane is periodically repeated.
