Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 41 words
An electrode paste consisting essentially of the admixture of: (A) anhydrous nickel carbonate, (B) up to about 50 wt.% of nickel hydroxide, based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight, (C) a cobalt additive compound, and (D) sufficient water to form a paste.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 41 words
An electrode paste consisting essentially of the admixture of: (A) anhydrous nickel carbonate, (B) up to about 50 wt.% of nickel hydroxide, based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight, (C) a cobalt additive compound, and (D) sufficient water to form a paste.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
The electrode paste of claim 1, where the cobalt compound is added in an amount of from about 1 wt.% to about 7 wt.%, based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight, and is selected from the group consisting of CoCO 3 , Co(OH) 2 , hydrates thereof, and mixtures thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 13 words
The electrode paste of claim 1, also containing an effective amount of deflocculant.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
The electrode material of claim 3, where the deflocculant is a polyelectrolyte material and is present in the range of about 1 wt.% to about 15 wt.% based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 43 words
An electrode comprising a porous supporting metallic plaque containing an electrode material consisting essentially of the admixture of: (A) anhydrous nickel carbonate, (B) up to about 50 wt.% of nickel hydroxide, based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight, and (C) a cobalt additive compound.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 43 words
An electrode comprising a porous supporting metallic plaque containing an electrode material consisting essentially of the admixture of: (A) anhydrous nickel carbonate, (B) up to about 50 wt.% of nickel hydroxide, based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight, and (C) a cobalt additive compound.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 22 words
The electrode of claim 5 as positive plates in a battery comprising a plurality of alternating positive nickel plates and negative plates.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 14 words
The electrode of claim 6, where the negative plates are iron active material plates.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 58 words
The electrode of claim 5, where the cobalt compound is added in an amount of from about 1 wt.% to about 7 wt.%, based on anhydrous nickel carbonate weight, and is selected from the group consisting of CoCO 3 , Co(OH) 2 , hydrates thereof, and mixtures thereof, and the admixture also contains an effective amount of deflocculant.
