Abstract
Abstract A magnetic recording medium having a layer containing as a lubricant one or more organo-polysiloxane compounds having the following formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) (wherein R1 is a divalent hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R2 is a monovalent hydrocarbon residue having from 7 to 21 carbon atoms; R3 and R4 may be the same or different and are -CH3, -(CH2)2(CF2)kCF3 or -R1SCOR2; k is 0 or an integer ranging from 1 to 12; each of l, m and n is independently 0 or an integer ranging from 1 to 200 and the sum of 1+m+n is up to 300, with the proviso that when at least one of R3 and R4 is the group -R1SCOR2, each of l, m and n may be 0 and that when at least one of R3 and R4 is a group other than the group -R1SCOR2, each of l and m may be 0 but n is our integer ranging from 1 to 200).

A magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic base and a magnetic layer, in which the non-magnetic base is provided with a layer containing at least one organo-polysiloxane compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR10## (wherein R 1 is a divalent hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R 2 is a monovalent hydrocarbon residue having from 7 to 21 carbon atoms; R 3 and R 4 may be the same or different and are --CH 3 , --(CH 2 ) 2 (CF 2 ) k CF 3 or --R 1 SCOR 2 ; k is 0 or an integer ranging from 1 to 12; each of l, m and n is independently 0 or an integer ranging from 1 to 200 and the sum of l+m+n is up to 300, with the proviso that when at least one of R 3 and R 4 is the group --R 1 SCOR 2 , each of l, m and n may be 0 and that when at least one of R 3 and R 4 is a group other than the group --R 1 SCOR 2 , each of l and m may be 0 but n is an integer ranging from 1 to 200).
