Claim 3
Dependent Claim
17 words
The measuring device of claim 1 wherein said aneroid manometer means includes an externally visible dial face.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
39 words
The measuring device of claim 2 wherein said aneroid manometer means includes indicator means for identifying the points in time at which to read said visible dial face for obtaining the subjects blood pressure at systolic and diastolic conditions.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
26 words
The measuring device of claim 3 in which said indicator means includes at least one light-emitting diode positioned adjacent said dial face and an electronic circuit.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
53 words
The measuring device of claim 4 which further includes an electronic circuit designed such that at said systolic condition said light-emitting diode turns on and at said diastolic condition said light-emitting diode turns off and said light-emitting diode alternately turns on and off with each heart beat between said systolic and diastolic conditions.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
40 words
The measuring device of claim 5 in which said electronic circuit further includes a dual operational amplifier, the first stage of which being used for filtering and amplifying and the second stage of which being used as an comparator-timing circuit.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
97 words
A method of determining blood circulation system characteristics which comprises: wrapping an inflatable bladder completely around a selected artery-containing appendage; turning on a remotely positioned electronic circuit which contains a pressure-sensitive piezoelectric crystal, said piezoelectric crystal being coupled to said inflatable bladder by a two-piece arrangement of tubing; inflating said bladder to a pressure level above the assumed systolic blood pressure of said blood circulation system; and allowing a bleed valve having a continuously open aperture to control the rate of deflation of said bladder, said bleed valve providing the juncture between said two pieces of tubing.
Claim 9
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
45 words
The method of claim 7 which comprises the following additional steps: watching at least one light-emitting diode, said diode comprising a portion of said circuit; reading a sphygmomanometer dial when said light-emitting diode first illuminates; and reading said dial again when said diode turns off.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
35 words
The method of claim 8 which further includes the step of waiting as pressure in said bladder escapes through a continuously open air leak valve at a predetermined leak rate immediately following said inflating step.
