Emulsifiers comprising R--X--(CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O).sub.n --CO--NH--Y wherein X is selected from the group consisting of --O--, ##STR4## --CH 2 --O-- or --S--, n represents a number from 10 to 50, R' represents a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group, R represents a radical selected from the group consisting of an aromatic radical having 6 to 9 carbon atoms, a cycloaliphatic radical having 3 to 9 carbon atoms and a heterocyclic radical having from 2 to 9 carbon atoms in the ring, and Y represents a group obtained by removal of an isocyanate group from an organic polyisocyanate.

Emulsifiers comprising R--X--(CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O).sub.n --CO--NH--Y wherein X is selected from the group consisting of --O--, ##STR4## --CH 2 --O-- or --S--, n represents a number from 10 to 50, R' represents a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group, R represents a radical selected from the group consisting of an aromatic radical having 6 to 9 carbon atoms, a cycloaliphatic radical having 3 to 9 carbon atoms and a heterocyclic radical having from 2 to 9 carbon atoms in the ring, and Y represents a group obtained by removal of an isocyanate group from an organic polyisocyanate.
