A process for removing nail polish from a nail comprising solvating the polished nail with a composition comprising: (a) a low viscosity ketone; (b) a solvent in which the ketone is miscible selected from the group consisting of water and alcohols and mixtures thereof; and (c) a homopolymeric salt of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid in an amount sufficient to thicken the composition thereby removing the nail polish from the nail.
