Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 17
Claim 1
Independent Claim 64 words
A process for removing basic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds from a hydrocarbonaceous material comprising the steps of contacting particulate coal with said hydrocarbonaceous material at a temperature from about ambient to 600° F. at substantially atmospheric pressure for a period of time sufficient for said coal to sorb a substantial portion of said basic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds, and separating said coal from said hydrocarbonaceous material.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 64 words
A process for removing basic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds from a hydrocarbonaceous material comprising the steps of contacting particulate coal with said hydrocarbonaceous material at a temperature from about ambient to 600° F. at substantially atmospheric pressure for a period of time sufficient for said coal to sorb a substantial portion of said basic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds, and separating said coal from said hydrocarbonaceous material.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 16 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises a full range coal-derived liquid.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 16 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said period of time is less than 180 minutes.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process according to claim 3 wherein said period of time is 60 minutes.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 13 words
The process according to claim 4 wherein said temperature is about 300° F.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises petroleum.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises a petroleum-derived liquid.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises oil shale-derived material.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 13 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises oil shale.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 16 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein sad hydrocarbonaceous material comprises a byproduct of coke production.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 16 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises a byproduct of coal gasification.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 13 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises tar sands.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbonaceous material comprises tar sand-derived material.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 19 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said coal contacted with said hydrocarbonaceous material is substantially free of water.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 17 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein said coal contacted with said hydrocarbonaceous material is undried coal.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 25 words
The process according to claim 1 wherein subsequent to said separating step, the resultant hydrocarbonaceous material is again subjected to said contacting and separating steps.
