Abstract

Abstract Coal gas produced in an iron bath reactor during the gasification of coal is first cooled down in a first cooling step to a temperature of, preferably, 300° C., and is subsequently purified at this temperature in a first electrofilter, then cooled down in a second cooling step to a temperature of, preferably 50° C. and, finally, purified at this temperature in a second electrofilter.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 113 words
In a method of purifying a hot dust-containing coal gas produced from coal fed into a steel or iron bath reactor and issuing therefrom at a termperature of about 1500° C., the improvement comprising the steps of cooling down the gas to be purified to a first temperature of about 200° to 500° C., first purifying the gas at said first temperature in a first electrofilter, further cooling down the purified gas to a second temperature of about 20° to 100° C., and thereafter again purifying the gas at said second temperature in a second electrofilter for dedusting the gas to a residual dust content which is negligible for a gas piping system.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 113 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 36 words
The method according to claim 1, including the further step of first drying the coal being fed into the reactor by using the heat removed when the purified gas is cooled down to said second temperature.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
In the method according to claim 1, wherein said first temperature is 300° C.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
In the method according to claim 1, wherein said second temperature is 50° C.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 46 words
In the method according to claim 1, wherein the gas during said first purifying step has a dust content upon entering said first electrofilter in excess of 50 mg/m 3 and has a dust content upon exiting said first electrofilter of about 50 mg/m 3 .
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
In the method according to claim 4, wherein said gas has a dust content upon exiting said second electrofilter of below 5 mg/m 3 .
